Established in the year 1960 by late Shri S.S. Bhatnagar, “NRITYA BHARATI” (Regd. Under Societies Act, 1965) is the first institution of Jamnagar imparting training in Kathak,Bharatnatyam and Folk Dances of India,Vocal and Instruments(Tabla and Harmonium).
The founder of the institution, Shri S.S.Bhatnagar was the member of Gujarat Sangeet Nritya Natya Academy, Gandhinagar. He has trained over 10,000 students and has performed over 1200 ballets, Nritya Natikas in various languages all over India.
At present, Dr.Simran Bhatnagar is the director of Nritya Bharti. She has obtained her formal training in Kathak (B.A.honours,M.A.,B. eD and PhD.)from Indira Kala Sangeet Samiti, Khairagarh. She has been training students from the past 20 years in the field of Kathak.
The class structure consists of a series of exercise and basic movement patterns aimed toward improving body alignment and coordination.
The technique demands a strong sense of rythem, musicality and body awareness. It is known for sculpturesque, postures and graceful gestures as seen in the temple architecture in India.
The daily practice of the technique fasters strength, endurance and flexibility. Student learn excerpts from the established repertoirin Kathak along with their historical, cultural and Socio – Political context.
